Extracts from Reports of Christian Science Committees on Publication for the Year Ended September 30, 1928

Southern California.

Several incidents have indicated the friendly feeling of the theatrical profession towards our religion.

A play containing misleading references to Christian Science was produced at a theater in Burbank, but when the objectionable lines were brought to the attention of the management of the theater, they were promptly deleted from the play. When the motion picture version of this same play was being photographed at the studio of a large motion picture corporation, the Committee wrote the associate producer asking that all references to Christian Science be omitted from the titles. The associate producer showed his respect for Christian Scientists by replying, in part, "We deem it quite sufficient that you request this omission to have it granted immediately." When this motion picture appeared on the screen during the past year, it contained no reference to Christian Science.
