I am a boy of sixteen and should like to tell of an experience I had about two years ago. One evening two other boys and I were on bicycles; and as we were going down a grade I turned upon the sidewalk and hit some sand. The front wheel slid out from under me and I fell, hitting my head on a tree close by and my knee on the sidewalk. Some people saw what had happened and called a physician. He arrived soon after and said I had fractured the leg six inches above the knee. I was taken to the hospital, but my leg was not set until the next morning. After the doctors had set it they took an X-ray photograph and found that it was not set properly. They then said I would have to take ether and have it set again. This was done, but still it was not set right. I then took ether again, and they set it again, and put a fifty pound weight on it. I was left that way for a day or so, but even this did not help.

The physician said my leg would have to be operated on and splints put on; but my mother said, "No." I was then taken home in an ambulance and another doctor was called. He wanted to give me ether too, and my mother did not know what to do. My aunt, who is a Christian Scientist, told mother of Science. Finally my mother told the doctor she thought she would try something else. The physician said, "You had better let me set it, or he will never be able to walk or get around without crutches." But we tried Science. I had a very bad sore on my heel and one on my back. The practitioner talked with me a while, and I was relieved of all suffering and pain. The practitioner came to see me often; and after I had been home in bed about a month, one day I got out of bed and walked around the room on crutches. The second day I was up and went to the practitioner's home. I stayed there five weeks and I was then able to walk, limping very little.

Later I came home and helped my father put up hay, and assisted with other jobs. I can run, jump, and do everything I could do before I was hurt. No one can notice that my leg was broken. I have been healed of difficulties, and am very, very grateful for the healings I have had in Christian Science.—Lawrence Thayer, Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin.
