It is with a heart full of gratitude that I wish to mention some healings brought about by Christian Science. Twelve years ago I heard it spoken of for the first time. At that time I had been suffering for ten years with rheumatism and asthma. Above all else, I was seeking peace. Having suffered from a chronic illness for some years, I asked for treatment from a dear practitioner. Errors which had held me in bondage during many years yielded to the truth, but the illness for which I had asked the treatment continued. In proportion, however, as I changed my way of thinking,—as I overcame faults of character, such as impatience, criticism, and many others,—the healing so much desired became manifest.

For several years Christian Science has been our only physician. Last year the younger of our sons, seven years old, was healed of whooping cough in a week. Financial difficulties have been overcome through the consecrated work of a practitioner; and as we have allowed ourselves to be guided entirely by divine Love, seemingly insurmountable obstacles have been removed.

In 1926 we had a wonderful demonstration of Truth, the healing power of God as Christian Science reveals it being proved to us in a most tangible way. Our son, then fifteen years old, was attacked with a severe form of St. Vitus's dance. To conform to the school's regulations we had him examined by a nerve specialist. I asked help immediately from the consecrated practitioner who had helped us before. The symptoms were so alarming that I allowed myself to become discouraged; but by her unshaken faith the practitioner was able to renew my courage, and the Wednesday evening testimony meetings likewise helped me. After the first absent treatments our son could sleep at night, although remaining very restless during the day. He had lost the power of speech; he could take only liquid food; and it was only as he was supported at each side that he was able to walk: in fact, he needed as much care as an infant. This condition lasted four weeks, during which we passed through periods of hope and of great discouragement. We had confidence, however, in the healing power of Truth, recalling ceaselessly former blessings. Some well-meaning people advised our placing the boy in a hospital. We refused all such suggestions, trusting entirely in God. As often as my work permitted, I read to him from "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. Four weeks later a slight improvement was manifest, and it increased from day to day. It is scarcely possible to describe our joy and gratitude. At the end of nine weeks the child ws completely healed, without any convalescent period. He seemed to awaken from a bad dream.
