A number of years ago one of our lecturers said, "If we are afraid to try Christian Science on our health, let us try it on our disposition." Shortly after this, an experienced Christian Scientist must have thought I needed to try it on my disposition, for he put this question to me: "Did anyone ever tell you that you were sensitive?" At this I boiled within, though not with resentment toward the questioner; for the error had been uncovered, brought to light to be destroyed.

Daily I put into practice every bit of Christian Science I knew, realizing that human traits, being no part of God's creation, cannot hold His ideas in bondage. I continued to work; and it was uncovered to me that behind sensitiveness lay self-pity; and self-pity implies thinking of self; and thinking of self is conceit. A sensitive thought manifests temper, either explosively or in smoldering resentment.

I do not mean to state that my disposition has been perfected; but much progress has been made; and when error tries to present itself, I recognize it as error and "stand porter at the door of thought," as Mrs. Eddy tells us to do in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 392). This progress has been manifested in greater peace of mind and in the disappearance of physical discords.
