The Christian Science Monitor was established by Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, who declared its object to be "to injure no man, but to bless all mankind" (The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, p. 353). In keeping with the Biblical assertion that "God is no respecter of persons," and in the earnest endeavor to live up to the high standard set by Mrs. Eddy, without prejudice as to race, creed, or class, the Monitor aims to uphold impartially all that is good and that works for the universal welfare, honoring those who honestly and unselfishly endeavor to serve their fellow-man.
