With thanksgiving for so many demonstrations of the all-power of God, I wish to express gratitude for Mary Baker Eddy's discovery of Christian Science. I am grateful also to those who interested me in this truth.

I had been ill and unable to sleep for more than a year; and had become discouraged and unhappy. Hardly realizing I was praying at all, in my extremity I asked for help, for love, and to give love. My answer came. I went away for the summer hoping the change would help me; and while away I made two friends who were sisters and students of Christian Science. Through constant association with them my ills disappeared, and a sense of peace came to me. Later I visited these helpful friends, and one of the sisters seemed to be very ill; the other sister and mother read, and seemed not at all worried. The sister was healed. I said, "Since you expect so much from reading, let me have something to read." I read the chapter on Prayer in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. This experience was my beginning as a student of Christian Science, for which privilege I give thanks daily.

Later I was given the name of a practitioner. Our small son had whooping cough, and I took him to her. He gained six pounds in weight, and had none of the disagreeable symptoms that I had always been taught must accompany the ailment. At another time, when we were visiting my mother, my son had measles. I went into town to send a telegram to a practitioner; when I returned the little fellow wanted to get up, but I did not let him get up until the next day: it was cold on the farm. He went out with the two boys that worked for my mother, to feed the stock and get wood for the fire. His healing was complete, and the neighbors said he could not possibly have had measles.
