It was a case of sickness in our family that first called my attention to Christian Science. However, as I did not wish to recommend anything to my relatives about which I myself know nothing, I began to study this religion; and so it became a blessing first of all to me. My first attendance at a meeting, and the testimonies I heard there, had such a reassuring and comforting effect upon me that I was drawn to attend the services again and again. Through my study of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, conjunctivitis disappeared completely. Previous to this it had been looked upon as incurable, because, according to physicians, the law of heredity lay upon me. Indigestion, the cause of which was attributed to changes in the organic system, was relieved, and complete healing soon took place. Through the help of a loving practitioner I was healed of a disease which had attacked the thyroid gland, and for which I had undergone an unsuccessful operation two years previous. I was also freed from the fear of heredity at the same time. I am grateful for these and other physical healings, but still more grateful that Christian Science is completely changing me. From an out and out timid and discouraged individual, who condemned herself and always felt guilty, and who therefore could not find her right place in life, it has made a free and contented individual, who works to-day with joy and is grateful to be able to perform her daily duties with love. A sense of lack was lost when I at last recognized that man is always supplied with good. Fear of lack had prevented me from seeing this.

From my childhood I had been particularly sensitive if touched by the thoughts of others. As this condition caused me much suffering, often bringing about physical suffering, and it was difficult for me to overcome it, I had tried to protect myself materially by fortifying myself with refusal, opposition, and surliness. It took much devoted work on the part of the practitioner to free me from these faults. I am grateful for the untiring patience with which I was helped, again and again, until I could prove for myself that all of God's ideas are under the protection of divine Love.

I am grateful to our Saviour, Christ Jesus, for his love, and grateful to Mrs. Eddy that she has given us Christian Science. I am also grateful for our literature, and for the privilege of working in a Christian Science branch church, thereby having the opportunity to help others as I have been helped.
