I wish to express my gratitude for the Christian Science...

I wish to express my gratitude for the Christian Science lectures that are given by the Christian Science churches and societies throughout the world, also for the Christian Science Reading Rooms, and the kindness that is expressed by those in charge of them. It was through those two channels that I received a wonderful healing. One day on the street I saw a bill poster which read, "Free Lecture on Christian Science." At that time I was lame, and was allowed to eat only food of a certain kind. The doctor said that I had incurable inflammatory rheumatism. I went to this lecture not thinking that it would do me any good, but there was something that seemed to stay with me. The next day I went to the Reading Room and purchased a pamphlet, which I took home and read. Next day I went back to the Reading Room and asked the librarian what it was in Christian Science that healed the sick. She said, "The truth." That seemed quite strange to me; I had never heard the expression before. She then told me to study Christian Science; that the truth would unfold to me, and that I could come into the Reading Room each day and stay as long as I liked. I went to that Reading Room daily and studied diligently, and began to attend the church services; and in a short time, through the loving-kindness of the members and a treatment from a Christian Science practitioner, I received my healing.

I am more active now than I have ever been in all my life; and for this and other wonderful demonstrations I am deeply grateful. I am also grateful to Mrs. Eddy for her unselfishness in giving to us her writings, and for the periodicals, which are as manna from heaven. And I am thankful to be a member of The Mother Church and a loyal branch church.
