No written words of our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, however few or many, which have come into the possession of The Christian Science Board of Directors, have ever been destroyed by this Board, but all have been and are still being carefully bound and indexed, so that they may always be preserved and may be available for reference by the Directors and their successors in office, to enlighten and guide them in the innumerable problems confronting the Cause, and that they may be used in any other way which from time to time may be determined through prayerful consideration by the Board of Directors. The letters, notes, and memoranda relating to Christian Science, written by Mrs. Eddy at various times, which have come into the possession of the Directors, contain nothing in any degree different from what she has fully elucidated in her published works. Her books contain the whole of her teachings on Christian Science.

There has never been any mystery in Mrs. Eddy's instructions, but there has ever been a pointing upward, through faith in divine power, to the great need of evangelizing the "human self" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 254).

Mrs. Eddy, through her many years of wise counsel and leadership, impressed upon the officials of her church the necessity of doing the right thing at the right time. Through the rules in the Manual of The Mother Church, she provided for reasonable and proper editing of all published articles.
