Christian Scientists do not hide behind any Committee; but in the Christian Science organization it is the work and duty of the Committee on Publication to correct false statements concerning our religion. My reply in No. 5 of the Marner Zeitung was not intended for propaganda, but was to correct false statements which had been made. Whoever reads consistently the writings of the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, will recognize that this Science is contrary to pantheism and opposes it. In the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," of which Mrs. Eddy is the author, we read on page 341: "The strictures on this volume would condemn to oblivion the truth, which is raising up thousands from helplessness to strength and elevating them from a theoretical to a practical Christianity. These criticisms are generally based on detached sentences or clauses separated from their context. Even the Scriptures, which grow in beauty and consistency from one grand root, appear contradictory when subjected to such usage."
