The Presence of God

Every healing in Christian Science is accompanied by a realization of the presence of God. And greater joy can no one experience than the recognition of the loving presence of our heavenly Father-Mother; for in that presence all that is unlike good disappears!

What a privilege the student of Christian Science enjoys in the affirmations that make the omnipresence of God felt! Such declarations, made understandingly and persistently, bring the sure sense of ever protecting Love. In "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 12) we find these words: "In Christian Science, the law of Love rejoices the heart; and Love is Life and Truth." To a student who had long battled with a sense of depression and unhappiness, that message brought a great awakening, and came as a clarion call to come out of the valley of depression and ascend the mountain of joy. While this ascent is not gained without striving, we have the assurance that "he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways."

The very nature of love, as taught in Christian Science, is happiness. If we are truly loving we must be happy, for then we are living in the conscious reality of Love itself. The understanding of the loving presence of God destroys all sense of loneliness, depression, and foreboding; and when we "walk and talk with Him," fear, the great enemy of mankind, disappears, because it can find no place in the thought that is realizing the all-encompassing tenderness and strength of His presence.
