I came to Christian Science for a physical healing

I came to Christian Science for a physical healing. Three years ago I thought I was a hopeless sufferer from stomach trouble, having suffered from it for twelve years. I could eat scarcely anything without severe pain and suffering, and was a physical wreck. One day, when I seemed to be suffering more than usual, a friend asked me if I would like to read some Christian Science literature. I replied that I would do anything to relieve my suffering. She then told me of some wonderful healings she had herself experienced, and gave me some Christian Science literature, which I began to read at once.

I read for several days, then asked a practitioner for treatment. At this time I was taking from three to five doses of medicine a day. The practitioner told me to throw the medicine away, to rely entirely on God, and to eat anything I wished. I did this. For a while the food seemed to disturb me as usual, but through the faithful and persistent work of this loving practitioner, and my own faithful study of the Bible and of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, this condition was overcome.

Words can never express my gratitude for this healing. I am grateful to God, to Christ Jesus the Way-shower, to Mary Baker Eddy, and to the loving practitioner, who was so patient with me during this trying experience. I have had many other healings, both physical and mental. I am also very grateful for the spiritual uplift. For me a great light has shined, which light is indeed "a light above the sun, for God 'is the light thereof'" (Science and Health, p. 558).
