I have been interested in Christian Science for about twenty years. Until five years ago I just drifted. I owned a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, but read it very little, although I lent it a great deal. About five years ago, during an epidemic of influenza, I was instantaneously healed of that disease by reading in the Christian Science Sentinel of a young noncommissioned officer in our home camps who, with the men under him, had so long escaped the disease that a superior officer at last asked him how he accounted for it. He replied, "Why, every day I go by myself for a while and just know that God's promises are true." Upon being questioned about these promises by the surprised officer he replied, "God promises 'there shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.'" As I read this beautiful testimony I seemed to feel the presence of a power that could heal, and I was immediately relieved of all distress; and within an hour all the symptoms which were dragging me down entirely disappeared. I think of myself as having been the prodigal son when I remember this healing. I had been living on the husks; I had come to myself and was returning to my Father's house. While yet a great way off my Father saw me coming and came to meet me.

After this I stated the study of Christian Science earnestly and faithfully. I witnessed other healings in my family; but a condition of chronic sciatica continued with me for about two years. I was never free from pain except when asleep, and the whole left side seemed to be steadily growing worse, often awakening me in the night; and I found myself more and more inclined to drag the left foot. All this time it never occurred to me to seek a practitioner for my trouble, but I can truthfully say that every spare moment was given to a search for more of the precious truth which I had found in the teachings of Christian Science. At last, upon listening to a Christian Science lecture, I was partially healed. The next morning, while reading the lecture over, a sense of health came to me and I was left "every whit whole." It was truly like a miracle to me, and the healing was complete. I have never had a return of the trouble. At the time I was more or less rheumatic in all my joints. All this disappeared, and I found myself as supple as I had been in girlhood.

These are only two of the many proofs I have had of the efficacy of God's law when rightly applied. As I have seen the true light about spiritual blessings, my worldly blessings have increased. We have been protected through fire three times, our house each time being left standing with ruins all around us. This was the result of steadfastly knowing that God's children are safe. I have proved over and over again that the loving ever-presence, whom we call "our Father," never fails in managing our affairs if we listen for His voice.
