In gratitude to God for His loving guidance into the study of Christian Science, I offer my testimony of the healing power of Truth, trusting it may be a cup of cold water to some one who may be thirsty.

I had known of Christian Science since 1902, had been impressed greatly with the happiness and love that its students expressed, and had always intended looking into it at a more convenient season; but it was not until seventeen years later, while in the "valley of the shadow of death," that I turned to it and found it to be the Comforter in my distress. The doctors had pronounced the disease incurable, a growth affecting both heart and lung, one which they could not reach and lovingly did not try to. They said morphia could tide me over, and told my husband and my father not to waste their money, as there was practically nothing to be done.

I was hungering and thirsting after righteousness, and have since seen the truth of our Leader's words in the chapter on Prayer in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 1), "Thoughts unspoken are not unknown to the divine Mind." This desire was answered by a friend's lending me a copy of Science and Health. I seemed too ill to read it understandingly, and asked what I should do. The advice given was, "You need some one to help you until you can help yourself." Some one was kindly sent who did help me, with the result that in nineteen days I was able to attend the church service and have been active ever since.
