Christian Science has been the guiding star of my human experience. "The Sun of righteousness" arose with "healing in his wings" for me when I was four years old, and throughout the years since then this truth has made me free from any erroneous condition that has tried to present itself. Whether in an obvious or a subtle guise,— in sickness, fear, lack, or bewilderment, — evil has on every occasion given place to "the enduring, the good, and the true" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, p. 261). There has never been an illness that has not been healed, a lack that has not been filled, or a problem that has not been solved. Scarlet fever, measles, hemorrhages, grippe, influenza, have been quickly overcome by Christian Science treatment. At one time I was stricken with peritonitis. My brother, who is a physician, said that an immediate operation was the only chance for recovery. Within a few hours of his verdict I was quickly healed through the knowledge that God is Life, and that as man could never lose God, man could never lose Life.

In my early teens I was sent to a large city for special study. After I had become well started an adverse circumstance threatened the loss of these lessons and my general education. Through the direction of the one Mind I was led to most pleasant work, which was an education in itself, and which enabled me to continue both the school work and the special instruction. The utter unreliability of human will has been proved to me. After mortal plans have seemingly gone awry, time has proved that God was in that place.

For a slow but complete healing of malarial fever, and for freedom from fear and pain in childbirth, I am sincerely grateful. But my joy for the knowledge that for every material myth there is a spiritual fact is unbounded. Thankfulness to God, to Jesus, and to the revelator of Truth to this age, Mrs. Eddy, is best expressed in striving for the correct understanding of God and endeavoring to follow in the footsteps of the Master and our dear Leader.
