The Lectures
Introductions to Lectures
Seattle, Washington (Fourth Church).
Lecturer: Bicknell Young; introduced by Miss Margaret E. A. Crawford, who said:—
Christ Jesus, when his marvelous demonstrations of the power of God to heal sin, disease, and death were drawing to their climax, prophesied the coming of another Comforter. This Comforter was to glorify the Christ: as we read in the sixteenth chapter of John's Gospel, "He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you."
I had often wondered what this Comforter could be, and the time and manner of its appearing. When, a few years ago, I saw a friend who was suffering from influenza quickly and beautifully healed through the prayer of a Christian Science practitioner, I realized that something very wonderful was at hand; and when I took the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and read it eagerly for many hours, I knew that Christian Science was that Comforter, for that reading revealed the Christ to me, and healed me of defective eyesight.
