The first blessing that came to us through Christian Science...

The first blessing that came to us through Christian Science in an hour of great need was the healing of my mother of nervous prostration. This was followed by her healing of a tumor. Prior to her study of Christian Science an operation had been performed for this trouble, but had not been successful. The complete healing took place simply through the reading and study of our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.

Although I was most grateful for these beautiful healings which my mother experienced, it was not until several years later that I took up the study in earnest. Then I myself had many proofs of God's loving care. I was healed of measles in less than a week's time. A sprained ankle was so quickly healed that I walked on it the day after the sprain occurred, and was freed from limping on the third day. On two different occasions my mother and I were healed of what seemed to be ptomaine poisoning; and during the influenza epidemic I was quickly healed of this ailment with no after effects. Very recently I have had an experience for which I am most grateful. An abscessed tooth was healed in a much shorter time than could possibly have occurred under medical treatment. I was absent from my work only a day and a half, and all swelling had disappeared at the end of the fifth day.

Like all Christian Scientists, however, we are most grateful for an ever growing knowledge of the allness of God and man's unity with Him, as revealed to us through the study of Christian Science. In our family we have had many proofs of God's outstretched arm, under the most trying circumstances. His protection has been manifested in ways that would seem miraculous to one unacquainted with the power of God as revealed through the inspired writings of our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy. Truly we have proved the words of the prophet Isaiah to be true: "When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee."

My heart is filled with deep gratitude and love for that brave woman, Mary Baker Eddy, who walked so close to the Father that she could be the revelator of Truth to this age. I am grateful for our dear Saviour and Way-shower, Christ Jesus. I also wish to express my deep sense of gratitude for the privilege of class instruction; also for the joy of being able to help in the Sunday school work. I am grateful to be a member of The Mother Church; and I thank God for all that this organization means to mankind to-day and forever.
