A blessing has come out of a recent experience which has brought the realization that one does not really understand that which he has not proved. I wish to express my gratitude for this lesson learned. One morning, having read the Lesson-Sermon and having finished a few household duties, I answered the door bell to receive a package, and was asked to sign for it. I became aware that I could not move even to take the pencil; and a short time after, I awakened lying on the floor. A neighbor, who is not a Scientist, and the one who had brought the package were trying to lift me up, asking me to try and get to bed. I asked them to leave me where I was, and I tried to realize the presence of the one Mind. Two telephone numbers came to my thought, one my husband's, the other that of a practitioner. These I gave to my neighbor. This was wisdom's leading, for again I became unconscious. The practitioner worked for me, but for three days I had to be helped to move in any way, and was not able to retain food. On the third day, being free from pain, I raised my arm. We heard a snap, and I felt as if a bone were snapping into place. I had not known I had been injured by the fall. After this I was able to get up and move about without help, and to retain food. During these few days I was also entirely healed of tetter, which had been apparent for at least six months.
How grateful I am for the realization of the one divine, all-conscious Mind! I am also grateful to know that there is in reality no subconscious mind, no loss of mind, no resistance to the truth. Surely Christian Scientists have cause to rejoice and to be grateful that Mrs. Eddy realized our need of God and gave to the world "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" and the Manual of The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, as our help and rule and guide.
