Recently my daughter, who was in Switzerland for the winter sports, met with a severe accident while coasting on a heavy bobsled with six others. A woman was ahead of them, going slowly on a small luge, or sled, and in order to avoid her the guide threw on the brakes with such force that one broke and the sled overturned. They were going at about sixty miles an hour. The rest of the party were thrown clear of the sled, but my daughter was caught under it. Her injuries were so severe that a surgeon from London who saw the affair and rendered "first aid," said he did not think she could recover. However, before he made such a prediction, work in Christian Science had been begun by my son, who had also been on the sled. He and his sister both declared the truth that God is ever present and governs every situation, affirming it over and over. The surgeon said, "I don't see why this girl is not unconscious; she ought to be," and laid her calmness to what he said was the most remarkable bravery he had ever seen. We knew that it was Christian Science that was upholding her, for she was not suffering. Much attention was given to the wounds on her head; and her leg, which was broken below the hip, was set, all without an anæsthetic, and with no pain resulting. The wounds on her head were completely healed in less than a week; and while the knitting in the bone was slower, it taught valuable lessons in patience.

We are grateful beyond words for this wonderful proof of the healing and sustaining power of Christian Science.
