It is indeed a privilege to bear witness to the healing power of Truth as taught in Christian Science; and I am most grateful for the many proofs I have had of its effectiveness and instant availability.

I first turned to Christian Science when a boy of fourteen. At that time I suddenly became totally deaf in one ear, and practically so in the other. I consulted a specialist and was told that an abscess had formed on the drum of each ear and that it would be necessary to operate. I was frankly told that I would never regain the hearing in one ear, and that the chances of the operation being successful on the other were very small. At this time a neighbor heard of my predicament and suggested that I try Christian Science. My mother had been reading Science literature for some time, but I had very decided ideas on the subject and was very antagonistic towards what I thought Christian Science to be. However, I finally decided that as it was the only thing which it was claimed could help me, I would try it. I went to see a practitioner, who told me something of this wonderful truth in a very simple way, and I found that my preconceived ideas about Christian Science were entirely wrong. The prejudice was wiped out, and I asked for treatment.

For several days there seemed to be no sign of improvement; but treatment was continued, and I secured a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and studied it. About a week after my first call on the practitioner the healing took place suddenly, while I was walking along the street. From that time my hearing has been perfect. This healing seemed almost too good to be true; and to convince myself that it was true I had the specialist examine my ears again. He pronounced them in perfect condition, and was amazed at the healing. This proof was most convincing to me; and Christian Science has met my every need since that time.
