It was in 1911 that I first heard of Christian Science, through a wonderful healing of a dear friend and relative in our town. I longed to know the truth about God, man, and heaven, and she lovingly explained to me what Christian Science is, as taught in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by our dear Leader, Mary Baker Eddy. A burden rolled away, and I felt happy and satisfied. I began to study the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly and to attend the church services and the lectures. Very soon the proofs of the healing power and truth of Christian Science began coming to me through demonstration.

During September, 1914, my little girl was taken suddenly ill with spasms. I was all alone, and had no telephone to call for help in Christian Science. I knew my husband would have a doctor; so I sent for one, and he came with my husband. The child seemed to grow worse, and the physician said there was nothing to be done. He inserted a sharp needle in various parts of her body, and she did not flinch. The thought came to me that God was her Life, and I held to it. Soon that calm assurance and peace that passes all understanding came; and in a few minutes the child sat up and asked for water. She slept all night. The next morning on the arrival of the doctor, she was up and playing. He said if she got well she would be deformed all her life; but to-day she is a useful girl at home and school, without a sign of de formity. She was then about three years old, and she is now fifteen. She still remembers that God saved her life.

I am very grateful for the physical healing, but more so for the understanding that I have of God's omnipotence and care for all His children. "I know that my redeemer liveth," and that this Redeemer is revealed in Christian Science.
