Twenty years ago, after being treated by many physicians who relieved but did not cure frequent and serious attacks of pleurisy, I turned absolutely to Christian Science, and was healed within twenty-four hours, permanently and perfectly, of the most severe attack I had ever had. There was great pain, as well as high temperature, so that twice in attempting to move I became unconscious. Absent treatment was given, and I was so full of the understanding of the Christ, Truth, that I was able the next morning to be about as usual and go out in the cold March weather. Previously I had been kept indoors for weeks in a state of convalescence.

The difference startled me, and I am thankful to recall that I was willing to give up the old way and earnestly strive to learn about God's law, which heals now as in Jesus' time. This knowledge of God as "a very present help in trouble" was brought to light by our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy; and the whole world owes her a debt of gratitude, whether conscious of it or not. To her, and to all the loving Christian Scientists who have helped, I wish to express publicly my heartfelt gratitude for this and many other proofs of God's love and care.
