[Written for the Sentinel]

Protection

Where thou goest, Love will lead thee,
Where thou walkest, Love will guide;
If thou hunger, Love will feed thee;
Love is ever at thy side.

When thou sleepest, Love will guard thee.
When thou wakest, counsel give;
Be thou true, Love will reward thee; 'T is by Love alone we live.

Let not want or lack appall thee,
Love is ever thy supply;
Naught but good can e'er befall thee,
If on Love thou dost rely.

Though temptation may assail thee,
Love a present refuge is;
Love's protection ne'er shall fail thee—
God is Love, and thou art His.
