In the summer of 1918, I experienced the healing power of Christian Science in a very convincing manner. At that time I was suffering from a severe abdomina complaint. As I had already had help in Christian Science in several respects, I turned again confidingly to divine Love. I earnestly endeavored to purify to thought; for I knew this was the first step necessary to regain my health. My husband helped and encouraged me in my endeavor. But error seemed to be very stubborn, and after three months had passed we decided to inform a practitioner. She gave me absent treatment. Only a few days passed before the trouble disappeared, and I felt perfectly well. I was more than happy to experience such a wonderful proof of the working of truth. I also recognized how beneficial the waiting time had been to me, for it taught me to practice patience and work earnestly. Then I began to study Christian Science not only for material well-being, but because I had the sincere desire to learn more of the truth. Studying the Lesson-Sermon and reading the periodicals attentively have proved to be of great advantage in gaining this knowledge.

In connection with my wife's testimony I should like to relate some of my experiences in Christian Science. The first time I heard of this teaching was in 1910. But as I was a student at a university I believed I knew what science was, and so refused to examine it; for to find any connection between health, religion, and science seemed to me incredible.
