The Lectures

Introductions to Lectures

Bristol, England (First Church).

Lecturer: Paul Stark Seeley; introduced by Mrs. Florence Gertrude Smith, who said:—

It will be admitted, I think, that the deepest desire of mankind, throughout the ages, has been to secure tangible proof of God's existence, and to experience in everyday affairs a consciousness of His presence and protection. Christian Science has revealed God to me as an ever present help. For over four years I was periodically prostrated by sciatic neuritis and acute rheumatism, which prevented my walking. I was attended by two specialists, receiving constant care and kindness, but no permanent relief followed. With the advent of Christian Science into my life I was rapidly and completely healed, and my whole outlook on life was changed. This was the proof I so long had sought that the teachings and promises of the Bible are true, and that God's power to heal and regenerate mankind is as operative in the world to-day as it was in Biblical times.
