[Original testimony in German]
I have been an adherent of Christian Science for about...
I have been an adherent of Christian Science for about ten years, having learned of it through dear friends. During this time both my family and I have been privileged to experience innumerable blessings through Christian Science. Among them the following made an especially deep impression upon me. During the Christmas vacation our eighteen-year-old son came home with a cold. I did not pay much attention to it, for I am convinced that in reality there is no cold. Instead of getting better, however, the cough daily became more tenacious and severe, and was especially troublesome at night. The young man's breathing was short and spasmodic; he had little appetite, and was very weak. My relatives urged me to take him to a competent physician, for they thought he looked as though he might be subject to consumption.
I turned to a Christian Science practitioner and requested treatment. From that hour our son improved. While I was writing, the truth came clearly to my thought, and I recalled the words which the practitioner had spoken and so often impressed upon me during the years in which I have been an adherent of Christian Science,—namely, "Be watchful." The sense of fear, which tried to become manifest again and again in spite of my better knowledge, finally fell from me. I unremittingly declared the truth that with God there is no sick or inflamed lung, and that He created man perfect and in His likeness. After three days our son was completely healed, and could depart to resume his studies once more. Since that time two years have elapsed, and he has not been sick for even a day. He is stronger than others of his age, and often has won prizes when participating in water and outdoor sports.
My heart overflows with gratitude to Mrs. Eddy, who has again shown us the true Christ-way, and has taught us in her works how to solve every problem in daily life.
