For the last twelve years my life has been so transformed...

For the last twelve years my life has been so transformed by Christian Science that I should like to tell others of the great joy that this truth brings. It is of a mental healing that I especially wish to write.

In my work as a teacher I had honestly tried to be an influence for good, but at times I found myself confronted by such difficulties that I would be greatly depressed and discouraged, feeling that I was an utter failure. I have learned in Christian Science that a belief of the necessity of personal influence is but a mistaken sense of responsibility; for, as Mrs. Eddy says on page 192 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," under the marginal heading "The one real power," "Your influence for good depends upon the weight you throw into the right scale." In proportion as I have put this teaching into practice, I have been relieved of the burden of false responsibility and have been enabled to do better work, bearing in mind that man "is but the humble servant of the restful Mind" (p. 119). I now see more good in children, because I know that only the good is real, and that whatever unlovely traits may be manifested they are no part of the true children of God; whereas formerly, my very eagerness to help would cause me to dwell on the shortcomings, thus throwing the weight into the wrong scale. Christ Jesus' words, "Loose him, and let him go," are still powerful to unclasp the hold of all wrong thinking. Greater harmony has come into my life, because I am learning to know and love God and man better through the greater light brought by Christian Science.

My gratitude to Mrs. Eddy grows daily.—(Miss) Annie Elizabeth Sheppard, Dundee, Scotland.
