With a heart filled with gratitude I wish to relate a healing which I experienced through Christian Science. One day when the street was covered with ice, I fell heavily on my back, striking the back of my head. Quite a little time passed before I could get up. The following night I suffered such pain that I was unable to sleep. I tried to treat myself, as we are taught to do in Christian Science, but could not. Nevertheless, I went to work the following morning. The pain, especially in the back of my head, in the back, and in the arms grew worse during the day. Fever also set in, so that it was very difficult for me to work. I therefore went to see a Christian Science practitioner in the evening and had her treat me. During the treatment the pain increased. Then I improved a little; but the following night the condition grew worse. The next day, however, I began to improve visibly.

On account of my vocation I was compelled to consult a doctor, and he diagnosed the case as concussion of the brain and influenza. He prescribed various medicines, which I did not take, but continued to have Christian Science treatment. The influenza, together with the fever, entirely disappeared in three days. Although I suffered nervous pains in my limbs, this also was healed through Christian Science. For some time I had been suffering from sleeplessness and lack of appetite. These difficulties also disappeared.

Looking back upon my life, I can say that Christian Science has brought me much that is good and beautiful. I was never able, formerly, to believe in God or to pray to Him. To-day I am grateful and glad to be able to do both. Many apparent troubles, which I could not otherwise have overcome, I have learned to master in Christian Science; for now I know that our Father-Mother God does not let His children suffer, because He is good only and consequently cannot send misfortune and unhappiness. I have also learned to see that the apparent misfortune and unhappiness are brought about only by wrong thinking. For this recognition I am deeply grateful, as it impels me always to think right and pure thoughts. Although I may have doubted sometimes the healing power of Christian Science, I have learned to realize through this last healing that Christ's healing power is applicable to-day as it was nearly two thousand years ago, and that it will always remain so.
