I heard of Christian Science when I was little more than a child. Being of a skeptical and meditative turn of mind, I considered it necessary, at that time, to investigate and compare its teachings with the religions and philosophies of the ancient civilized peoples. I found Christian Science to be the noblest and most exalted of teachings; yet I was not ready to acknowledge it as the truth, although I suffered very much, both mentally and physically. I constantly held fast to this one thought: God had compassion upon Thomas; He will send to me also the light which I need in the course of my development. Now the hour has come. The All-loving had given me a wonderful proof as to where the only true path lies, as to which is the truth among the many teachings, and as to how we can preserve our life.

I had been suffering from inflammation of the knee joint for seven weeks, and the condition was growing worse all the time. There I was, with all hope practically gone, a victim of despondency. I had to decide in whose hands I wanted to place my fate—in the physicians' or in God's. I then wrote to a Christian Science practitioner and asked for help. Instantaneous and complete healing occurred after the second letter; that is, after only one week. I was compelled to walk much during the following days. I also had to resume my work; and I could do it all without any ill effects.

This was a turning point in my life. From now on I shall fill my post and attend to my other duties in the spirit of Christian Science. And I give the honor to God, Truth.
