I have reason to be grateful, and am indeed thankful,...
I have reason to be grateful, and am indeed thankful, that Christian Science came into my life when it did. About eight years ago it was brought to my attention by a friend. My first thought regarding it was that it was very beautiful, but sounded too good to be true. I had reached a point in life where successive disappointments had brought me to the conclusion that the God I had been taught to fear when I was a child had failed me utterly. In the first three months of my study of Christian Science I was healed of fear, doubt, discouragement, and the like; and I came to love and revere the God who is Life, Truth, and Love, whom Christian Science teaches us to understand.
A few years ago I listened to a testimony on Christian Science by a lady who stated that she had been a student for thirty-three years; and after enumerating some of the blessings she had received, she closed her remarks by saying, "I love Christian Science." I felt that she was perfectly sincere, but could not understand how one could love an abstract idea. Later, as I thought about her statement, it came to me that perhaps I was not giving Science its just dues; and after careful thought and study I realized that "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" and all of Mrs. Eddy's books are so full of love that one with earnest intent cannot help loving Science. This thought was a revelation to me. My progress was attended by less effort from that time on; and I can now truthfully say that I too love Christian Science.
I have been healed in many ways,—physical, mental, moral; and in my business Christian Science has been such a help that I cannot imagine what I could have done without it. I have been healed of colds, headaches, constipation, and insomnia; the mental healings have been many and varied; and the question of supply has been met at times when it seemed as though there could be no relief at all. I have proved many times that "divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need," as our Leader tells us on page 494 of Science and Health.
