Seven years ago my little son, at that time three years...
Seven years ago my little son, at that time three years old, began to lose the use of his legs, and became unable to climb even a few steps, or run. He went back to creeping, and when taken on the street had to use his baby buggy. My knowledge of Christian Science was very vague. I had had a few talks with and treatments from a practitioner for myself, but my faith was hardly strong enough to trust my baby to that treatment. Several days, therefore, went by, with the condition growing worse. A decision had to be made, and through the advice of a friend the child was taken to the same practitioner who had been so loving with my questions and doubts. Treatment was given. At the end of one week, while others could see improvement, fear blinded my eyes to it. He was taken again to the practitioner, with the explanation that there was considerable question in my mind as to whether the call should be made to her or to a doctor and iron braces resorted to. I was shown that while I was free to decide that, I really did have more faith in God than in man. Up to this time one treatment had been given, and when the thought of iron braces was given up and reliance placed on God, the improvement was remarkable. Before the end of the second week the boy walked to the office for treatment, some half mile away, and was soon in a better physical condition than he had ever been. He had always been fed on whole wheat bread; but since it was made clear that it is not what enters the mouth that defiles, he eats what he prefers and there has never been a suggestion of a return of this trouble.
There have been many healings in our home, of every nature,—physical, mental, and financial,—as well as of the many little experiences of everyday life, all of which mean so much it is hard to express enough gratitude for the small working knowledge I have of Christian Science.
