Among the Churches

Current Notes

Pleasantville, N. Y. (First Church).—Work has begun on the construction of the new building on Bedford Road for First Church of Christ, Scientist. The property, formerly occupied by St. John's Church, is being entirely rebuilt and remodeled, and it is expected that by midsummer the congregation will enjoy the advantages of their structure. The new building reflects the simple, quiet dignity of the best of our early American churches. The auditorium has a high ceiling and contains one hundred and fifty sittings. The beautifying of this property, located on the principal artery of through traffic, confers a distinct benefit on the community.—Pleasantville Journal.

Monroe, Mich. (Society).—An attractive new church building has just been completed by the Christian Science Society of Monroe, directly north of the Macomb Street bridge, on a plot of ground deeded by the city in exchange for the same frontage just north of the city building. The structure, which has a seating capacity of two hundred, is built of cream-colored stucco with interior finish in ivory enamel. The electric fixtures are finished in Gothic design. The society formerly held its meeting in the Telephone Building, but growing attendance necessitated much larger quarters.
