Letters from the Field

"I have not stopped rejoicing since my return from the Christian Science Sanatorium, because of the delightful privilege of having been in such an harmoniously conducted institution. By observing the house rules, not to rehearse error or speak of the merits or demerits of a practitioner, but to look to God as the only healer, a great lesson was learned. It is, therefore, not my motive now to rehearse error, but to glorify God.

"After bearing witness to a healing in Christian Science of a broken bone and many minor healings, I could not doubt that a healing would come to me, even though for five years I waited patiently for the unfolding of Truth and Love to be manifested. This has come after a stay of three weeks at the Christian Science Sanatorium. During these years I had been conscious of a hard growth in the abdomen, and had been having unnatural spells which seemingly wrecked me physically and mentally. My jaw had been locked, my arm was slightly paralyzed, internal organs had ceased to function, and I had been having sleepless nights and dizzy spells. I felt the healing take place while I was at the Sanatorium and rejoiced, even though the physical manifestation was not much changed. I was so grateful. I gained strength, and came home happy, to feel like doing something,—working, doing anything. Within a week after I reached home the growth had entirely disappeared; and every organ began to function in a natural way. Nights have been peaceful. I weigh more than ever before, and have not felt such strength and activity in years.

"My heart is so filled with sincere gratitude and love for Christian Science, its activities, its workers, and our dearly beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, who provided for this blessed home of The Christian Science Benevolent Association, which has helped me and so many others to better understand and demonstrate the words of our Master, 'Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.'—(Signed) Emma W. Schwencke, Bay Shore, Long Island, N. Y."
