I am very grateful for the many blessings that I have...
I am very grateful for the many blessings that I have received through the study of Christian Science. When I first became interested, in 1914, I was suffering from stomach trouble. I called a Christian Science practitioner, but received little help from his treatment, and became discouraged. Some time later, I had a very severe attack of sciatic rheumatism, and was persuaded to try electrical treatment. Failing to get relief from this, I called the family physician, who came and gave me a hypodermic injection, which quieted me for the night. Next morning I was suffering terribly. The family urged me to call a physician, but I told them I was through with materia medica. They therefore called a Christian Science practitioner. She came, and found me in agony; but it was not long before I was improving under her kind and faithful treatment, although one foot was paralyzed for several days. I was entirely healed before long, and have had no rheumatism since. I have had several other healings. I have been cured of the drink habit of forty years' standing; also of the tobacco habit. Profanity and a mean temper have also yielded.
I am surely grateful for these healings, as they are proofs of the truth revealed in Christian Science; but I am most grateful for the transformation of character through a better knowledge of God and His salvation. Christian Science has filled my every need when rightly applied. I am grateful for the healing; but the spiritual awakening is the crowning glory. I am most grateful for membership in The Mother Church and also in a branch church.
