It is with a deep sense of gratitude that I send the particulars of my healing through Christian Science. Till two years ago I had never heard of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. A friend who had been healed through the study of it lent my mother-in-law two copies of the Sentinel, which I perused very indifferently; but I seemed to think that this book was what I needed. On being informed that I could borrow one, I sent for one from the nearest Christian Science Reading Room; and I soon found I must have a copy of my own. Before I had read the textbook through the second time, I was quite well.

It would be useless to try to describe my sufferings for the previous nine years. I had lain in hospitals for months together, seeking advice from different physicians every year, each one suggesting fresh remedies. I had undergone three operations, but still remained a hopeless invalied, a misery to myself and those around me, each year bringing yet another trouble, added to those which already held me in bondage. At last I gave up in despair. I was suffering from spinal curvature, gastric stomach, ulcers, displaced kidney, and abdominal weakness, for which I wore a bandage for years; also from astigmatism, for which I wore glasses. Supposing every one had done his best, I felt doomed to a life of suffering, with no other hope in view till Christian Science was made known to me. Its healing and uplifting power has been demonstrated in my life; and I am now happy, active, useful.

My one desire is that others who are suffering as I have suffered may be helped and encouraged to study Science and Health, and so be lifted from the slough of despond as this wonderful book has lifted me. I shall never cease to be thankful for Mrs. Eddy's revelation of Truth, which by her consecrated life she has been able to make known to mankind, enabling us to prove for ourselves what an ever present help we have in divine Love, which meets our every need. Words fail to express what Christian Science has done for me in its spiritual uplifting and healing power. For all the Christian Science literature that I have been able to read I am truly grateful, and for Mrs. Eddy's writings, which inspire us to a nobler life.
