When Christian Science was presented to me several years ago, instead of gladly accepting this gospel of "on earth peace, good will toward men," I met it with a great sense of prejudice and antagonism, these being the thoughts held by my family and friends, and therefore the ones I supposed right to express.

Finally, realizing that there was but one way in which the facts could be learned, I secured a copy of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. After reading but a small portion of this book, I was healed of constipation, an ailment which I had had from childhood, and for which drugs had proved unavailing. Shortly after, while reading in the textbook, glasses which had been worn since a small child, fell from my face and broke into many pieces. As oculists had said that my eyes were in a bad condition, and would constantly grow worse, fear was expressed for my comfort during the few hours it would require to get new lenses. This seeming accident proved of particular significance, however; for I continued my reading without discomfort, and after a time realized that my healing had been complete, and that divine Love had guided and protected me throughout the experience. Which were chronic and steadily becoming worse, red, never to recur; although such illness was hereditary, and a basis for trouble of a more alarm nature. These healings occurred when I seemed to know little of Christian Science and its application; but for the measure of childlike faith and receptivity that made the demonstrations possible, I feel much appreciation. They prove true the promise of the Bible, "Before they call, I will answer."
