I would like to tell of the many blessings I have received...
I would like to tell of the many blessings I have received through many years of study of the teachings of Christian Science; especially of the healing of timidity. When a boy and a young man I was a sickly person, therefore not much in contact with the world. After I received physical healing through Christian Science and started out into life, I was still shy and timid. I do not care to go into details of the embarrassments and "ups" and "downs" I had through this sense of fear. I was, for instance, perfectly able to write a correct letter, but could not meet the same man and tell him the same thing to his face.
While struggling along the road, I met many people who had been even more timid than I, but were now helping the needy through the application of Christian Science. I finally overcame, step by step, my own fault, until the final proof of my healing was given to me when I was able to hold a responsible position during the war. Many a lesson I had to learn; for instance, patience, purer judgment, honesty, sincerity, humility, meekness, and love. In the degree of my understanding of God, I had the power to prove the Bible saying, "Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty;" or, as Mrs. Eddy so wonderfully expresses it in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 481), "God's being is infinity, freedom, harmony, and boundless bliss."
I try to show my gratitude in daily deeds.
