During the past thirty years it has been my privilege to receive many messages from friends and relatives regarding the healing and regenerating power of Christian Science. I had, however, not been able to become interested; for I had utterly discarded the Bible, due to the fact that it was a sealed book to me so far as its spiritual interpretation was concerned, and the literal interpretation did not interest me.

My wife had been in ill health for years, and her condition was becoming steadily worse. A lecture on Christian Science was to be delivered in our immediate neighborhood, and my wife asked me if I would not attend the lecture with her. I was fortunate, indeed, in doing so; for the lecturer said that Mrs. Eddy was the only one who had logically and rationally explained and reconciled the first and second chapters of Genesis, and this was of great interest to me. About a month later, my wife's condition being deplorable and every known material means having been exhausted without relief, she decided to ask for help in Christian Science. The result in her case was so marked that I could not help noticing the immediate change for the better; and this, coupled with the remark as to a real explanation of the first and second chapters of Genesis, led me to ask for help in Christian Science, not so much for physical as for mental healing, for I had begun to realize the wonderful benefits Christian Science was bestowing on mankind. I am very grateful to say that from the very first treatment, so lovingly given me, I was benefited more than I can express; and since then I have had occasion daily to be grateful to our Father that I have had the opportunity to receive some degree of understanding of divine Truth and Love. I am also grateful to our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for having been so spiritual that she was able to give to the world her discovery of the truth.

The physical and mental blessings I and mine have received are indeed many; and the greatest blessing is the knowledge of God obtained through the study of the Bible and our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. What a wonderful light our textbook throws on the Bible, enabling us to understand that which to most of us was absolutely unintelligible before we had the "Key!"
