From the time one of my children was six months old until he was three, he had convulsions. We were told by the physicians that his heart was weak, and that he would die in one of these convulsions. Christian Science was then suggested to us, and in two weeks he was healed.
At that time I did not appreciate Christian Science; nor did I care to make a study of it. A few years later I began to grow miserable, and large, very fast; and I again turned to the physicians. I was told that I had a tumor and would have to be operated upon at once. Having had a number of years' experience in hospital work, I had seen enough of surgery to know that I did not care to take any part in it, and went home with the intention of living as long as I could in that condition; but again Christian Science was recommended to me.
I was eight months being healed, and I had many a discouraging hour during that time; but I learned that I must turn away from the material sense of things, for if I stopped to weep at difficulty I would miss the resurrection. I am grateful for this slow healing; for it has taught me patience, persistence, and perseverance. I thank God from the depth of my heart; and my thought goes out in deep gratitude to Mrs. Eddy, through whom this revelation was possible, and who was brave enough and strong enough to tell it to a weary, waiting world.—(Mrs.)Nellie L. Engle, Chicago, Ill.
