Out of gratitude for what Christian Science has thus far meant to me, I am writing to share with the needy of the world just a little of the blessedness that has come to me since my first touch of healing. The change that has taken place in my life, since Christian Science found me a hopeless wreck, has made real to me the apostle's vision: "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."

After having spent eight years of active service as a graduate nurse, I found myself finally confronted with utter helplessness, owing to my inability to find relief in the methods of materia medica. Living on an extremely limited diet, trying in vain the most highly recommended digestible foods, my depletion, following a surgical operation, verged upon a complete collapse; not a normal function of the body remained, and my suffering was well-nigh unbearable.

When the physicians under whom I had served—my then best friends—had despaired of helping me, I turned to Christian Science; and with the first explanation given to me by the loving practitioner to whom I turned in that dark hour, I glimpsed the healing light. As I listened to the wonderful words of life that were spoken for my assurance, there truly began in me a new birth; for I saw for the first time the availability of God, as divine Mind reflected by man, right here on earth. It seemed too good to be true; but no doubt remained, as the patient helper assured me that Mrs. Eddy's writings give the spiritual illumination of the Word.
