In giving my testimony of all the benefits received...

In giving my testimony of all the benefits received through Christian Science, I would like to tell how God led me to it almost three years ago. My husband being ill, the doctor ordered us to go to the country, and so we rented, in the suburbs of Geneva, an apartment in a house occupied by several tenants. Just opposite us there lived two ladies, a mother and her daughter. We often met them in the garden and among their visitors was one who specially attracted our attention, and I learned that she was a Christian Scientist. I loved God, the Christ, and the gospel which I was trying to put into practice, but I must say I did not know anything of Christian Science. I was introduced to this lady and she spoke to me about it and earnestly advised me to procure the textbook by Mrs. Eddy, which I did. My progress was slow. After much patience and perseverance a practitioner succeeded in helping me to understand these ideas which were entirely new to me. I then saw that it was not sufficient for me to read; I must study and above all I must mediate on the precious book which she had placed in my hands. The more I progressed, the more I appreciated its value. Now I can say in all sincerity that we can never be grateful enough to the noble woman, Mrs. Eddy, for the wonderful light she has thrown on our Master's words.

During this time the faithful practitioner was treating my husband and with God's help he has now resumed his own studies which he had to give up after a great nervous stress. An attack of influenza and several other ailments were also overcome. As for myself, a short while ago I had a severe congestion of the eye; it was so red and inflamed that those around me became quite anxious. Naturally I tried to overcome the error since I knew it was a false belief that had to be dismissed peremptorily as one would a temptation. But as I was suffering a great deal I did not feel strong enough for the task, so a practitioner came and freed me from the belief of pain; then I slept perfectly. Three days later, to my great joy, the eye was normal again.

I cannot find words to adequately express my gratitude for God's infinite mercy and goodness. May we give thanks to Him for the deliverance and all the blessings we have received of Him. May thanksgiving spring from our hearts. "The vital part, the heart and soul of Christian Science, is Love," says Mrs. Eddy (Science and Health, p. 113). Then it is only in the measure that we demonstrate our love for God and our fellow men that we really are Christian Scientists.—(Mrs.) M. Nicole, Geneva, Switzerland.
