Having received so many benefits from reading the testimonies, I wish to send mine. Eight years ago I took up the study of Christian Science for physical healing. At that time I had been told by various physicians that an operation was the only relief; this I would not consent to. Finally I was told by one physician that he might give me temporary relief, but I would never be a well woman; but thanks be to God, through the study of Christian Science, I am now a strong and healthy woman. When first taking up this study, I was to sense suffering from nervousness, an abnormal growth, pain, and many other discordant conditions. I can now say that the truth has made me free.

I would like to tell of the healing of my little girl, five years old. She was playing with scissors and ran across the floor, falling on them and cutting her upper lip very seriously and clear through. The extreme bleeding frightened the child, but she suffered no pain whatever. As my husband is not in Science, he drove with her to a physician, who remarked at there being no swelling and no pain, and my husband noticed that the physician did not use any medicine, but simply drew the lip together, and put a plaster on it. I held to the truth and the healing was beautiful.

I would like to tell also of the healing of my boy. He was thirteen years old and took great delight in riding on calves' backs. One evening he came walking into the house with blood streaming from his mouth and nose, seemingly dazed, as he did not even know me. I began to declare that memory is spiritual, and in about ten or fifteen minutes he came to, but was seemingly in great pain. Then I began to declare that nothing can withstand the presence of divine Love. In about an hour after the accident his father came home, and the boy had fear that his father would want to take him to a doctor; I then told him that in reality we are courageous, happy, the ideas of Mind, and are not afraid. We also declared that there is but one Physician, after which the pain ceased. His father asked if he should take him to a doctor, and I told him to do as he liked, but he seemed pleased with the way the boy was getting along, and said he would wait until morning. He has never taken him to a doctor, although the nose was seemingly crooked until recently, when his father remarked that the nose had been broken and set, and he would like to know what did it. The boy slept peacefully all night long after the accident and suffered no pain whatever, but the face was swollen about three days; he seemed discouraged and asked me to write a practitioner to treat him. After I had written the letter I said, "Son, you are not grateful enough, that is the reason why the healing has not been entirely manifested." Later I found him singing, "'Twas the Truth that made us free" (Hymnal, p. 213), and the next day the swelling had nearly disappeared. When I heard from the practitioner, she lovingly said she felt the work had already been done, that we only had to be grateful to receive more good.
