The Sun
The headlines of an article in a recent issue of The Sun and the article itself call for some correction, otherwise your readers will be misled into the false conclusion that Christian Science is some sort of mesmerism, hypnotism, and enchantment, of which, as a matter of fact, it is the very antithesis.
Nowhere in the Bible nor in the teachings of Christian Science can there be found any support for the teaching that pain, suffering, or evil of any sort can be removed by the mere repetition of words. It is by the understanding of the truth expressed by words, and obedience to the Decalogue and the teachings of the Sermon on the Mount that real healing is accomplished.
Christian Science teaches that the world as God created it is spiritual, and is governed by His law in perfect harmony, and that it was the knowledge thereof and the utilization of that knowledge and obedience thereto which enabled Jesus, the Christ, to do his healing work, and has enabled and is enabling those comprehending that law to follow his example, according to the measure of their understanding and obedience, in healing the sick and casting out evils.
