I feel very grateful for what Christian Science has done...
I feel very grateful for what Christian Science has done for me. After twenty-three years of suffering, during which time I had the best of medical help, I found myself in a most hopeless condition. I was suffering from Bright's disease, rheumatism, bronchitis, nervous headache, and heart trouble. I have been twice in the infirmary and the doctor said I had come too late to be cured and there was nothing for me but to stay in bed always. I felt life was not worth living. I went to church or chapel when I could walk so far, but I got no comfort. I had a severe attack of bronchitis that kept me in bed six weeks, and I was only well for a few weeks when it returned worse than ever. It was Wednesday afternoon, and I asked a friend if she could tell me the doctor's hours at night, when suddenly the thought came to try Christian Science.
I went to the Christian Science church that night, and I shall never forget the beautiful service. After the service I was introduced to a practitioner, who talked to me very lovingly and asked me to see her the next day. I went home that night with hope in my heart, and slept nine hours, something I had not done for a long time. I can never be grateful enough for the healing I have had, but I am much more grateful for the spiritual understanding of God I am gaining every day. It seems such a wonderful change to me after so many years of misery. I am thankful to God for this knowledge, to Mrs. Eddy, and to the practitioner for helping me to find the way to Life and Love and peace. I am also grateful for Science and Health. It has given me a better understanding of the Bible. I find great joy in reading the Christian Science periodicals and other Christian Science literature. I have had many demonstrations of divine Love, and my hope is to go on with this beautiful study so as to help others to this healing Truth and Love.—(Mrs.) Mary Elizabeth Williamson, Manchester, England.
