I take this opportunity of expressing my gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me. In the fall of 1905 I went to work for a friend who was a Christian Scientist and always kept his books and literature at his office. At first I thought I should not read his Science and Health as it must only be intended for those who believed in Christian Science, and being brought up in a denominational church I was far from taking any stock in the teachings of Science. One day I became possessed with a desire to read the book, so asked his permission to read it, which was gladly given. It was about three o'clock in the afternoon when I commenced to read, and I became so absorbed in it that he had to remind me twice when it was time to go to supper. After that, every spare moment I had was spent in studying Science and Health.
Previous to this time, I had suffered for years with what was called chronic stomach trouble, for which I had been doctoring for a long time, with only temporary relief, although I was on diet all the time. Before I had finished reading Science and Health through once, I was completely healed, and since that time I have eaten and drunk anything I cared to, without any signs of a return of my former condition. I was also healed of the tobacco and liquor habits, of profanity, and many other wrong conditions. My wife and little girl have received untold blessings from our understanding of this blessed Truth. My little girl will be twelve years old in about three months and has never taken a drop of medicine.
For these many blessings I am very thankful, but what seems the greatest blessing to me is the satisfactory understanding of the Bible we get when studied in connection with our textbook "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I can now understandingly and truly thank God for those blessings of Life, Truth, and Love. I am also very grateful to our dear Leader for bringing this wonderful truth to us, which when universally understood and practiced means freedom for all. N. D. Campbell, Halliday, N. Dak.
