It is with deepest gratitude that I acknowledge this Truth and blessings from the study of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. I was for years a member of a denominational church, and tried to reconcile the teaching and practice with the teaching of Christ, but found it contradictory and unsatisfactory. Later, after the long illness and death of a loved sister, who was also a member of the church, and a lovely Christian, I turned away, feeling there was something wrong when the prayers of minister and church, the devoted reading and prayers of a good mother, doctors and a specialist all failed to help or even bring relief from pain, and recourse to a little brown pill proved more efficacious and stilled the suffering.

I wondered and pondered on the healing of individuals and the multitudes by Christ, and I was thoroughly tired of the empty forms and creeds that preach patience and submission to sufferers as God's will and law. I read much, and tried to find something to satisfy the longing and solve the problems of life, and was rewarded, years after, by Christian Science, which I accepted at once, and proved before the end of the month, by being healed of several minor complaints, severe sick headaches, neuralgia of the heart, and sore throat. An attack of bronchitis in my little grandchild, when coughing was distressing and incessant, was stopped quickly, and she slept quietly all night. Thus I proved that I had found the "pearl of great price" and I studied the wonderful little book which is pointing the way and leading us into the promised kingdom, when all things shall be added unto us. In the years following I have had many healings. Rheumatism, lumbago, and throat trouble were overcome quickly.

I must mention here a bad fall I had, when I tripped, falling forward and striking my face on the pavement. A lady near helped me up. She thought I was badly hurt, and wished me to go into her home nearby. My nose was bleeding, also my lips. I thanked her, but declined to go in, and went on, did what I started out to do, and returned home, going immediately to my room and looking in the glass. The swelling had gone down and there was not a mark. I then went to my daughter's and asked her to look closely at my face. She did so, and then asked why I had made such a request. I told her, and again she looked my face over; not a mark or scratch could be seen, and no discoloration followed.
