Several years ago I took up Christian Science, not particularly for physical healing but more because it appeared to me to be a sensible religion. At that time, while reading the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, I was healed of the tobacco habit. The healing came before I had finished reading the chapter on Prayer, the first chapter in the book.
We thereupon had treatment for our six-months-old baby, who was suffering from a bronchial cough, which had manifested itself in a very severe form. A cure was effected in one treatment. Since then the healings experienced have been many. Chronic as well as functional disorders have been overcome, including malaria, chills and fever, coughs and colds, headaches, chronic bowel trouble, and chronic catarrh. Beneficial results are always experienced according to the extent that the fundamentals of Christian Science are inculcated in my life and daily actions. As a Government employee my annual ratings have been increased from a very low grade to a rating as high as is ordinarily obtainable, and work which formerly seemed a burden to perform is done with ease and great satisfaction.
I am grateful for the authorized literature, especially The Christian Science Monitor, the only paper of its kind in existence filled with authenticated news destined "to injure no man, but to bless all mankind" (Miscellany, p. 353). For the many blessings Christian Science is bringing to me and mine I am also very grateful.
