I hardly know where to begin, or when to stop, in expressing my gratitude for all that Christian Science has done and is doing for me. The blessings that have come to me through its teachings cannot be told in a few words. For years I had heard so much against Christian Science and had such a false sense of it, that I was prejudiced; but when I heard the truth about it from one who knew, I accepted it at once. It appealed to me especially because it was so sane, so practical—something I could apply at once to all my problems great or small and could use every hour of the day.
I was in great need of healing, both mental and physical; indeed, I was thoroughly discouraged, unhappy, sick, and tired of life. I was full of fear, but when I found that God never made evil and did not know anything about it, much of this fear left me. I realized that only Christian Science understood could destroy fear, and from that time life became a joy instead of a burden. Among the first of many healings that I had in Christian Science was the overcoming of the desire to die. I was healed quickly and permanently of this when the practitioner explained to me that I would gain nothing by dying, for I must work out my own salvation either here or hereafter; that death was not a friend, but an enemy to be overcome and not submitted to. I decided at once that I wanted to work out all I could here and now. This decision has often helped me in the last twelve years to prove the truth of what was told me that day.
I am very grateful for the privilege of class teaching. It is such a help to be taught properly how to apply Christian Science; for we know that if we are faithful and obedient to this teaching, we can solve every problem that comes to us. I want to express my gratitude for the Lesson-Sermons and our periodicals, which are such a help in our daily work; but above all I am grateful for our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy.
