It is with a grateful heart that I relate additional evidence of the overcoming of error by Truth. While my wife and I were en route from Cincinnati to southern California for a few weeks' stay I was attacked with what is known as ptomaine poisoning. The condition seemed to increase in violence, and by the time we arrived at Los Angeles I was compelled to take to the bed and remain there for about a week. We secured a Christian Science practitioner and held to the truth as taught in that wonderful book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, denying all conditions which looked serious. Thanks to God and the earnest work of the practitioner I was healed with great suddenness a few days later. While my wife, who had just left me in a seemingly low state, was in another part of the house telephoning to a friend, I arose from the bed and dressed, joining her in a few minutes, much to her thankfulness and joy. When my strength returned so suddenly, it was preceded by angels, "God's thoughts passing to man," as Mrs. Eddy defines them (Science and Health, p. 581), reminding me of those comforting words in the Bible: "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." How good it is to know that God omnipotent reigns and that no matter how far we may go from our homes, He is ever present and available.
I have had several other healings since coming into Christian Science; among them the overcoming of the tobacco and social drink habits of many years' standing, also of lack, and glasses have been laid aside. For all this I am exceedingly thankful to God and to Christ Jesus, and grateful to our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy. I am thankful to all the kind friends who have helped us in the study of this truth, and for the authorized literature.
Robert J. Williams, Cincinnati, Ohio.
