I have been helped so many times by reading the testimonies in the Sentinel and Journal that I send mine in the hope that it too may be helpful to some one. My first healing in Christian Science was in the summer of 1908. For three years I had been troubled with granulated eyelids, which the doctors said could not be cured. During the winter of 1907 a dear friend interested my mother in Christian Science, and together with her we attended services. I did not grasp the meaning of what I heard at that time, but the Wednesday evening testimony meetings appealed to me from the first, so that the following summer at the first signs of the eye trouble I wanted to be healed by Christian Science. In eight treatments the condition was entirely overcome and in the past ten years I have never had the slightest return of it.

During the six or seven years following my first healing I was a very spasmodic student of Christian Science, turning to it only in time of physical need. Although I attended the Sunday school for two years, or until I was twenty years old, I gained merely the letter of Science, despite the loving instruction of the teachers. I was too busy having what the world calls a good time to want anything metaphysical then, but with the new year of 1915 came a troubled conscience and a resolution to study Christian Science systematically. Since then I have not stood still, although at times my progress seemed very slow.

On page 559 of Science and Health Mrs. Eddy says to mortals: "Take divine Science. Read this book from beginning to end. Study it, ponder it. It will be indeed sweet at its first taste, when it heals you; but murmur not over Truth, if you find its digestion bitter." And to me this process of digestion was indeed bitter! The worst elements of thought were quickly brought to the surface, to be destroyed by Truth. Then came the testing time. Temptations presented themselves, but by clinging steadfastly to Truth, one by one the erroneous beliefs were met and mastered. I have been healed of malarial fever, ivy poisoning, sprained ankles, colds, coughs, influenza, measles, fear of electric storms, cuts, burns, and innumerable seemingly small ailments, but demonstrations which are very helpful in one's growth in Truth. An attack of bronchitis was recently overcome in twenty-four hours.
